🎯 About this course

You learn to answer problem questions in the order courts and examiners expect, to draft a notice, a complaint and a plaint part by part, and to follow a civil suit from notice to decree. The course uses the Case Court and Drafting Lab games as practice, and ends with a module on sources, filing and professional habits. It is a study course and not legal advice.

By the end you will be able to

  • Apply issue, rule, application, counter-argument and conclusion to a problem question.
  • Draft a legal notice, a complaint and a plaint with each part in its place.
  • Describe the stages of a civil suit and the document produced at each.
  • Identify the authoritative source for a statute, a date and a judgment and check it before use.
  • Explain how a document is filed and served and plan around the registry.
  • Describe the duties of confidentiality and conflict and keep a client file.
